We always encourage clients to think big: What have you always wanted to have in a home that you’ve never had? Inspiration from HGTV, Pinterest, Houzz, or other sources is welcome. If it’s out there, there’s a good chance we can make it happen.
Make lists
Try addressing sections of a house — kitchen, bedrooms, living areas — and list out your must-have items such as carpeting, soundproofing or a farm sink. Do the same for items you don’t want.
And don’t forget storage. One of the top challenges buyers face with traditional floorplans is lack of space. Because basements don’t work with Florida’s geography, we often recommend “Florida basements” — dedicated storage areas in the attic with a built-in floor and staircase rather than pull-down stairs.
